Launching her new project RIIKI REID is an exciting new chapter for artist Raquel Abolins-Reid. The multifaceted artist’s knowledge in both music and movement allows her to create catchy and intriguing music influenced by a range of genres – which is brightly highlighted in her new and upcoming releases.

Her first project, RIIKI, released in 2019, quickly hooked fans with her powerhouse vocals and sugary, indie-pop sound. Single High Heights has over 3 million streams, while other singles Share Your Luv and Good Times (#1 on the Hot NZ Singles Chart) have had great streaming success. In just one year since the birth of RIIKI REID, she has released two mini EP’s, in which glorified dance track ‘The City’ released in October 2022, supported by Triple J, sat in the NZ Singles Chart Top 5 for numerous weeks before taking out #1.

She was honoured to be selected as the ambassador of Spotify’s ‘EQUAL’ global campaign, where she had her first international Billboard in New York Time Square. She recently finished touring with NZ’s international sensation ‘Lorde’ on her NZ Solar Power Tour across NZ, sharing the stage with Marlon Williams, BROODS and Fazerdaze. She has played a number of successful live shows including NZ music festivals and sell-out arena’s, alongside NZ’s biggest names - Six60, L.A.B, JessB, The Black Seeds and Dave Dobbyn. She took her live show across shores in 2022, joining Australian pop-star Budjerah on his AUS headline tour.

Her project has had over 6 million streams on Spotify; thousands of views on YouTube; commercial and independent radio airplay; local and international playlist placements; media and blog attention; - signing with the world’s longest-running talent agency – WME, Warner Music and Village Sounds NZ.

Her latest project is an electrifying furthering of craft by the young artist, from a time of musical exploration throughout the pandemic. Channeling her love of alternative, 90s-indie-pop-rock, the first single Meet U Again includes her signature vocals, skillful songwriting, musicianship, and production. There are also subtle nods within the project, to her Maori, Samoan, Latvian and Scottish heritage. RIIKI REID is one to watch.
