About

Aotearoa/New Zealand four piece, Soaked Oats percolated into existence in Dunedin, New Zealand in 2017. Having released a chapter of e.p.’s covering the important issues of Stoned Fruit (2017), No Slip Ups (2017) and Sludge Pop (2019), the band were cooking with gas playing the bigger festivals including The Great Escape, Laneway, Rhythm & Alps, and WOMAD. Alongside a three week tour of the U.S. in 2019, the band have been welcomed so warmly across the ditch in Australia – they’ve toured there six times and the upcoming in March '23 to celebrate the release of their debut album.

Debut album, Working Title, was released to critical acclaim and debuted at no.12 on the Top 20 NZ Album Charts. Undertheradar noting “the band have infused a myriad of influences from funk to psychedelia to hip-hop, stirring in just enough of each to not overpower their signature flavour” and Graham Reid at Elsewhere.co.nz exclaiming, “it's one of those records which insinuates itself and by the beautifully thoughtful Day to Day at the end its very easy to hit repeat... and sink into it all over again”.

The album’s singles hit a chord with fans around the globe with ‘Working TItle’ and ‘Headline Opinion’ getting to no.1 on the Alternative Radio Charts in NZ and ‘Working Title’ firing up on U.S. radio on the NACC charts busting in on the Top 200. In January the album shot up to #73 on the NACC Top 200 chart making it the 2nd Highest Climber on the chart that week ahead of SZA and LCD Soundsystem!

Ahead of their upcoming album tour in Australia and NZ in March 2023, the band have been warming up with instores and live radio performances. RNZ’s Jesse Mulligan extolled the honour of “This is one of the best (bands that have performed on NZ Live)”.

Their thoughtful lyricism, guitar-driven indie-pop sounds and renowned live shows have seen them receive triple j spot play, NZ Alternative Radio no.1 slots, and over 12 million streams on Spotify building devoted local and global fanbases.
