Sonic Mutations is an ethereal and evolving music performance featuring three experimental electronic musicians based on Gadigal land. The triple-bill exclusive includes sound artist and composer Alexis Weaver (Venice Biennale 2023), experimental producer and DJ salllvage (Kombumerri man Rowan Savage), and South Korean artist AnSo, self described sculptor of sound. Together, they harness the creative enigma of Koup Music, a generative AI music tool and remix engine developed by design innovation studio, Kopi Su.

This project was originally developed by Kopi Su in collaboration with Weaver and salllvage, and commissioned by the Sydney Opera House for the Outlines Festival in July 2023. In the latest SXSW iteration with the addition of Anso, the project continues to explore the exciting potential of AI in music, crafting unique and unexpected sonic sensations covering themes such as connection to Country, the boundaries of the human and birth of AI entities.

Sonic Mutations mirrors the creative process with a captivating visual presentation accompanying their live performances. The trio's work represents a dynamic fusion of art, technology, and music, exemplifying the endless possibilities when human creativity meets AI innovation.
