Described as being “at the forefront of Australia’s indie-R&B scene”, Taj Ralph is a breath of fresh air to the Australian indie-pop/R&B scene. Effortlessly blending rich vocals with smooth electronic production, Taj is flourishing into a highly unique and experimental songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist.

Taj’s journey to this point has been littered with positive formative experiences. Achieving industry attention as a triple j Unearthed High finalist in 2017, Taj proved early that he wasn’t the sort of artist to rest on laurels; pushing forward with his own releases, as well key collaborations that brought him further notoriety.

November 2020 saw the release of Taj’s debut EP’s title track ‘Walls 2 Break’, setting a lush standard that the rest of the EP was set to follow. The rest of the debut EP was released in August 2021, boasting Taj’s readiness to step up and step out with his honesty and pure love for the craft, as well as his creative and artistic vision. It was received with strong support from community radio, triple j and more. Taj worked on his release with producer Tentendo, as well as Alice Ivy, Jim ALXNDR, Golden Vessel, and Thief. Taj rounded out the year with his release ‘Just Fine’, which secured ATB rotation via national youth network triple j, and quickly became a crowd favourite with its anthemic chorus.

In 2022, Taj garnered further radio exposure via his vocal contribution to young Sydney artist and fellow triple j Unearthed High finalist, edith, with her debut single ‘Falling Away’ which was also added to full rotation on triple j. The year was wrapped up with two more singles, ‘Potential’, which saw the young artist stretch himself even further – the first of a collection of tracks entirely written and produced by Taj on his own, and ‘Right Mind’ (ft. Yasmina Sadiki) which was co-produced by Taj and Oh Boy.

2023 saw Taj Ralph hitting the road in March 2023 with BOY SODA on a co-headline tour, opening for Ball Park Music at Enmore Theatre, and opening for Ocean Alley at The Ivy. His next single ‘Down On King’ will be dropping on 11th September which will be followed up by a string of free shows along the east coast and a showcase at SXSW Sydney!
