Whats The Difference Between Platinum and Industry Badges?

Both are great options, of course, but there are a couple of key differences.

A Platinum badge will give you primary access to all events at SXSW Sydney. Every. Single. One. Every showcase, every panel discussion, festival, conference, workshop – you name it. If you want to make sure you’re at the front of the queue for everything you want to go to, across all industries, this is the badge for you.

An Industry badge will give you primary access to all events specific to your area of work and then secondary access to the other industry events. For example, if you’ve got a Music badge, you’ll get primary access to all the showcases, performances, and everything else music-related across the week, plus primary access to the whole SXSW Sydney Conference and Expo. You’ll  also get secondary access to all Games, Tech & Innovation and Screen events.

Also, both Platinum and Industry badge holders will get the first pick of SXSW Sydney partner hotels at a discounted rate, quite the snazzy perk!

So What’s The Deal With Primary And Secondary Access?

Great question. There’s going to be a lot of people at SXSW Sydney, so it’s inevitable that some events are going to reach capacity pretty quickly.

At the entrance to every event, there’s going to be two lines: a Primary line, and a Secondary line. The Primary line will head into the event first, followed by the Secondary line, until capacity is reached.

If you’re holding a Platinum badge, you’ll be able to slide into that Primary line at every event – which is pretty handy. If you’ve got an Industry Badge, you’ll get Primary line access to all events that fall within your industry, plus primary access to the whole SXSW Sydney Conference and Expo, and then Secondary access to all other areas.
