Big Ticket Items: The Future of Live Music in a Tight Economy

About

In 2022, Bolster and Tixel came together to better understand the erratic ticketing patterns we were seeing post pandemic. We drew on original research including audience surveys and industry interviews to look at different types of buyers across the purchase cycle. The entertainment industry may now well be on the path to recovery, but there are still challenges ahead like the increased cost of living pressures and a decline in discretionary income. At the same time ticket prices have continued to trend upwards as the costs of touring and putting on a show soar. A standard ticket for Harry, Ed, or Pink fetched upwards of $180, and a multi-day festival might set you back $400+. Are people prepared to spend what little they have on big ticket items? Bolster, Tixel and other industry heavyweights will come together once again to present original research that looks at an ever shifting live events landscape. How have things changed one year on?
