Future Shock – Exploring the Intersection of Creativity and Tech

About

A panel followed by an open session exploring the benefits and challenges of new technology for artists, producers and creative organisations.

The creative industries, especially music and film, have been at the forefront of experimentation, development, and the application of new technologies. With the rapid emergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI), immersive experiences, and the metaverse, amazing opportunities are opening up for artists, producers, and creative organisations. However, alongside these opportunities are concerns about the potential impact of technologies like AI on imagination, creativity, creator livelihoods, and the revenues of intellectual property rights holders in the creative sector. This session aims to explore and demystify these narratives and dive into the fascinating opportunities that creative technology presents for artists.

We will invite UK and Australian speakers to discuss the big challenges and opportunities for musicians, artists and producers presented by creative technology. The session will be opened out for wider discussion around key themes and questions:
- What are the current opportunities and challenges for artists working with new creative technologies?
- How can we ensure creative and business benefits for artists and arts and tech organisations in working in cross-disciplinary ways?
- What support and mechanisms exist for navigating arts, music and creative tech in the UK, Australia, and for international collaboration?
- What are the key avenues to commissioners for artists and creative producers in the UK and Australia?
- How can we collectively steer international conversations for engagement within the creative sector around new technologies?
