Is doing good actually doing any good?

About

Whether it’s movies making a statement, TikTok creators giving away cash to homeless people or brands like Qantas getting involved in the Yes vote, it feels like everyone from brands to billionaires are jumping on the bandwagon of doing good.

And the move makes sense when you consider our rapidly changing global landscape. Communities are increasingly under pressure, increasingly polarised and increasingly losing faith in traditional public institutions. People are looking for new places to actively work towards our social, environmental, and financial betterment.

But are we all doing any good?

The debate around the boundaries of positive impact versus the unfair meddling in issues of public interest has intensified, particularly as more voices and brands opportunistically look to attract attention from doing good. And this session explores the delicate balance between social responsibility, positive change and woke capitalism.

Through a dynamic discussion led by industry experts, attendees will gain insights into the dimensions, roles and responsibilities of those stepping up the plate to do good in society, spotlighting successful examples where brands and voices in culture have leveraged their influence and resources to drive positive change.

This SXSW Sydney panel offers a platform for thought-provoking discussions, inspiring case studies and actionable strategies that examine our need to make a meaningful difference in our changing world and the accountability that this can hold.
