Technology has forced the reinvention of retail. During the first two decades of e-commerce, the emphasis was clearly on solving the utilitarian part of online retail - such as how to make payments seamless and faster. Offline shopping has always been visual and full of discovery, and for e-commerce, it was aiming to mimic the same experience - up until now. The next evolution is to merge the online and offline worlds to bring back the inspiration and joy of shopping while meeting the new expectations of consumers who want to shop with their values.
