Screen Ask Me Anything Networking Brunch — Monday

We kickstart the business end of SXSW Sydney Screen with an energising brunch and nutritious conversation. The Ask Me Anything Networking events give you access to notable Screen industry speakers and offer you a chance to ask them anything about their career in the Screen biz in an informal setting.

Ask them how they made it, what projects they say yes to, their thoughts on AI, and what they’d do differently. This is not an open pitching session, but you can ask for advice and hot tips. After the AMA you’ll be able to connect with other attendees for free-range networking, over a delicious buffet brunch. Bring questions.

Open to Platinum and Screen Badge holders only. Capacity is limited. First in, best dressed.

Our Monday AMA guests are all at the creative apex of the industry. Kitty Green directed SXSW Sydney’s 2023 Screen Festival Opening Night film The Royal Hotel, and previously directed The Assistant and two feature docs Casting JonBenet and Ukraine is not a Brothel. Glendyn Ivin’s short film Crackerbag won the Palme d'Or for Best Short Film at the 2003 Cannes Film Festival. He has since gone on to direct features including Penguin Bloom, and several TV Series including Puberty Blues, Safe Harbour and The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart. Bec Smith is a Partner and Manager at Anonymous Content in Los Angeles where she represents directors and writers including Anthony Chen, Garth Davis, Sebastian Junger, Ellen Kuras, Joshua Oppenheimer, Phillip Noyce, Goran Stolevski, Maria Schrader and Warwick Thornton. Previously a partner at United Talent Agency, Smith spent 15 years representing world class directors and writers.

Moderated by filmmaker, author and journalist Santilla Chingaipe. Her documentaries include Third Culture Kids and Our African Roots. Previously a journalist at SBS Television, she is a contributor to The Saturday Paper.
