Walking in two worlds: the space between cultures

About

Almost half of Australians have a parent born overseas and more than a quarter were born overseas (ABS 2021 Census) … so what are the challenges and benefits of having access to more than one culture?

Regardless of our age or when we or our families arrived, many of us have modified our language, culture, and behaviour to fit in. What does this mean for our workplaces, our recreation spaces, and the world we want to create?

Join our panel of experts, in conversation with Dr Manisha Amin (CEO, Centre for Inclusive Design) to discuss the possibilities and challenges of walking in two worlds – and how to embrace all your unique identities.

Panellists

- Senthan Sanchayan, co-founder of Stuck in Between Media, and co-producer of Level: Asian podcast and media network.
- Dr Bilquis Ghani, Lecturer in Arts, University of Canberra academic, former Head of Inclusion at the Sydney Opera House, Lead of the Hunar collective.
- Dr Elaine Laforteza, Equity and Diversity Project Officer (Cultural Diversity) at the University of Technology Sydney, and host of award-winning SBS podcast My Bilingual Family.
