Dr Alethea Beetson is a Kabi Kabi/Gubbi Gubbi + Wiradjuri writer, director and producer who has worked extensively with Indigenous communities across multiple art forms to inspire new works responding to societal issues, cultural heritage and colonisation. She founded Digi Youth Arts + is currently the Creative Director of Blak Social; and she works with Spotify as their Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Program Lead. Previously, Alethea has programmed First Nations music content at BIGSOUND, Brisbane Festival, Yonder, BLAKSOUND, Jungle Love and Horizon Festival. Alethea has a doctorate focusing on Indigenous performance and her most recent theatre work Queen’s City debuted at Brisbane Festival (2022). Its byline captures the heart of her work best: We are gonna steal your heart, like you stole our land.
