About

Amy Wang is a Chinese-Australian filmmaker based in Los Angeles. Her unique perspective as an outsider fuels her passion for stories about social isolation and the human condition.

Amy is writing the highly anticipated sequel–Crazy Rich Asians 2 for Warner Bros and is in development on her debut feature–Slanted, with Drake/Future’s company–30kft (Euphoria) who are producing and financing. She is also in development for an original horror movie at Paramount Pictures with QC Entertainment (Get Out, Us, Blackkklansman) producing.

Her feature screenplay–Wendi was on the prestigious 2018 The Black List–which is a collection of the best spec screenplays around Hollywood. Such movies as Slumdog Millionaire and The Revenant were all Black List scripts.

On the TV side, Amy wrote Episode 2 of the Netflix limited series–From Scratch, starring Zoe Saldaña, which was produced by Reese Witherspoon’s company–Hello Sunshine (Big Little Lies, The Morning Show). From Scratch recently received 6 NAACP Image Award nominations including a personal one for Amy for Outstanding Breakthrough Creative (Television). She recently wrote on the Netflix/Brad Falchuk series–The Brothers Sun (Summer2023 release), starring Oscar nominated actress, Michelle Yeoh.

As a director, Amy directed five episodes of The Birch for Facebook Watch (which garnered over33 million views) and her short film-Unnatural, won the Gold Young Director Award at Cannes Lions and premiered at the prestigious Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival. She is about to make her television directing debut on a new series on Starz.

Amy received her Masters as a directing fellow from the American Film Institute.
