About

The Music Managers Forum is the world’s largest professional community of music managers with over 1500 members based in the UK with global businesses. Their members range from the managers of some of the world’s best known artists like the Rolling Stones, Lana del Ray and Ed Sheeran to those just starting out. The MMF campaigns for a fairer, more transparent music industry which operates in the interest of artists and their fans.

Annabella writes a well-read and often quoted series of articles published on Medium about the issues impacting artists in the streaming area. She is regularly asked to comment in the music press and on national TV on music debates such as lump sum payments and major label deals.

Annabella recently launched the LetTheMusicMove campaign supported by internationally successful artists including Little Mix, Olly Murs, Annie Lennox and Biffy Clyro, highlighting the potential damage the proposed dramatic increase to US performing visa fees would cause to new and established artists.

The MMF UK has published the respected Dissecting the Digital Dollar series of 5 reports calling for greater transparency in the music industry to ensure artists are fairly paid in the digital age which has informed the recent Parliament enquiry into the Economics of Streaming and influenced the future direction of Government enquiry.

Recent MMF publications in this series have focused on artists' access to their fan data (and the money it generates) and on the Song Royalties going missing in the streaming supply chains as they pass around the world through CMOs and sub-publishers. In 2022 they published the Songroyalites Manifesto on how the system should change to pay writers faster and accurately.

Most recently the MMF has published two groundbreaking reports into the changing business models in Music Management entitled Managing Expectations and a deep-dive report in December 2021 into Writer & Producer Managers. and most recently updated in Sept 2023 a new text book on Music Management called the Essentials of Music Management.

The MMF is a founder and supporter of the FanFair Alliance campaign which successfully called for restriction of ticket touting (scalping) so that real fans can see their favourite artists. Annabella is also a founder member of EMMA, the European Music Managers Alliance alongside 8 other MMFs across Europe.
