Avish Gordon


Avish Gordhan is the Chief Creative Officer at Dentsu Creative. He was born in South Africa and grew up in Clare Estate – a suburb in Durban reserved for people of Indian origin during apartheid. Back in those days, it was unusual for Indians to pursue a profession beyond medicine, law or teaching. However, with democracy in the 90s came opportunity – Avish took his chances with advertising.
Over the last 20 years, Avish has worked on 3 continents on local and global brands including Tourism Australia, Toyota, Formula One, Commbank, Nando’s and David Jones. His work has been recognised more than 300 times at local and international award shows, including Cannes, D&AD and One Show. And his campaign for Go Gentle Australia was instrumental in transforming the laws around voluntary assisted dying in the State of Victoria.
Beyond the world of advertising, Avish is an avid ceramicist, a golfer and, most recently, a runner (although his knees believe that this running thing will be a temporary love-affair).
