About

Dr. Benjamin Montet is the Scientia Senior Lecturer in the School of Physics at the University of New South Wales. He was formerly a NASA Sagan Fellow at the University of Chicago. His research has contributed significantly to our understanding of exoplanet systems and stellar astrophysics. In addition to discovering dozens of exoplanets, he has developed software tools to make data from NASA missions accessible to both the scientific community and the broader public, and has created methodology to use data from NASA’s planet-hunting missions to probe both the magnetic fields of stars and the orbits of comets in our own Solar system. Dr. Montet grew up in Chicago and received his Ph.D. from Caltech in 2016, where he studied planetary and stellar companions to low-mass stars.
