Clare Birch is an Associate and Scientist in Residence at Australian VC Blackbird. Clare works across the deep tech companies in Blackbird's portfolio, supporting new and existing investments in quantum tech, diagnostic and interventional medical devices, nuclear fusion, biotech, space, photonics, and next-gen media. She created and runs Blackbird’s program for technical founders at the very beginning of a startup journey, Wild Futures. Previously, Clare was the first employee and Programs Coordinator at DeadlyScience, a Eureka-Award winning nonprofit that provides STEM education resources to remote Australian communities. She raised capital, created the early team, and established current programs with corporate partners like Merck and Toyota. Clare holds an Advanced Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Mathematics from the University of Sydney. She was awarded the University Medal for her Honours research designing quantum simulation methods for chemical dynamics with A/Prof Ivan Kassal.
