About

Emily Unity is an award-winning mental health advocate, software engineer, and creative designer.

Emily is passionate about lived experience leadership - creating meaningful opportunities to include people in decision-making that affects them.

Emily’s work is informed by their intersectional lived experiences, including mental ill-health, disability, LGBTQIA+, multiculturalism, neurodivergence, homelessness, and more.

Emily has a diverse professional portfolio. They are a Board Director for disability, multicultural, and LGBTQIA+ not-for-profit organisations. They hold leadership positions in both mental health services and technology organisations. They have also founded their own initiatives to fill gaps that are not addressed by existing programs.

Emily currently is the Lived Experience Lead with the Royal Children’s Hospital, the Metaverse Project Manager with Meta, a Board Director for Scope Disability and Midsumma LGBTQIA+ Festival, and an Ambassador for UNICEF, Headspace, Beyond Blue, Orygen, the Royal College of Psychiatrists, and more. Emily also founded Multicultural Minds, the multicultural mental health storytelling platform.

For their work, Emily was recently awarded 25 Under 25, 30 Under 30, Mental Health Advocate of the Year, Youth of the Year, the Disability Leadership Award, Innovation in Protecting Children Award, Children and Youth Empowerment Award, and inducted in the first cohort of the Multicultural Honor Roll.
