Fabian Marrone

About

Fabian Marrone is the Chief Marketing, Admissions and Communications Officer and
Vice-President at Monash University.
Having developed an international reputation for his expertise in communications, business development, digital transformation, international student recruitment, admissions and marketing, Fabian has advanced and differentiated Monash’s marketing, recruitment, campus experience and brand aspirations since 2017.

He is responsible for building and managing the University’s reputation, driving a channel, market and cohort-first approach to recruitment and admissions, overseeing the creation of automated and personalised communications, and activating a major campus events program to enhance student sense of belonging.

Fabian led the development of the award-winning, disruptive ‘If you don’t like it, change it’ campaign, its evolution into the physical activation ‘A Future Without Change’ and world-first documentary with the same title planned for cinematic release in June 2023. He has also led a multi-year market/channel optimisation approach linking marketing, lead generation, recruitment and reputation building across in-country, in-house and agency-supported channels – ensuring the highest return mix of attractions and conversion levers to build recruitment pipeline and deliver sustainably on international student enrolments.

He was awarded ‘CMO of the Year’ in 2019 by the Australian Marketing Institute (AMI) and has been named amongst Australia's top 50 CMOs in the prestigious CMO50 list in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022.

Before joining Monash, Fabian held Vice-President roles across marketing, partnerships and business development (APAC, EMEA and North America regions) at Hobsons (now QS). He previously held senior marketing positions with Adecco Group UK and Ireland, and CAMMS across APAC, North America and the UK. He currently serves as a Director on the Board of CAMMS and as a board member of Monash College.
