Janine spent her childhood ignoring her Chinese heritage and then her adult life making up for lost time. She loves the richness that sharing culture and language can bring and has deep experience with the nitty gritty of how to do this using voice over, subtitling, translation and re-versioning. Janine has worked with an international team on environmental documentaries in Japan, researched Chinese punks in Beijing, been in the photo pit for triple j, taught digital skills to regional Australians with ABC Open, led the digital strategy for ABC International, launched ABC Listen and led several digital product development teams. She is currently the program manager for SBS Learn English, creating content to help migrants learn English from a uniquely multilingual perspective.

Janine speaks English and has been learning Mandarin for longer than her abilities indicate.
