About

Justin Stevens has been the ABC’s Director, News since April 2022. In this role he oversees the ABC’s news staff in Australia and abroad, located in eight capital city newsrooms, 58 regional newsrooms and 12 overseas posts, and all its digital, radio and TV news and current affairs output.

This includes the ABC NEWS web and mobile sites and third-party channels; 24-hour news channels ABC NEWS on TV and NewsRadio; the eight state and territory 7pm News editions; current affairs programs 7.30, Four Corners, Australian Story, News Breakfast, Q+A, Foreign Correspondent and The Drum; audio programs AM, PM and The World Today; the Asia-Pacific Newsroom; and regional radio.

Previously Justin was Executive Producer of the ABC’s national nightly current affairs flagship program 7.30 from 2018 until 2022. He joined the ABC in 2006 working as a producer on programs including 7.30 and Four Corners and documentary series Keating: the Interviews and The Killing Season. His work has been recognised with Logie and AACTA awards and Walkley nominations. His first job in the media was as a researcher for the Nine Network on Sunday and for Geoffrey Robertson’s Hypotheticals.
