Kai Riemer

Professor of Information Technology & Organisation | The University of Sydney Business School


Kai Riemer is Professor of Information Technology and Organisation in the Discipline of Business Information Systems and Director of Sydney Executive Plus at the University of Sydney Business School.

He received his Ph.D. in Management from Münster University, Germany, where he also finished his postdoctoral thesis. His expertise spans the fields of digital commerce, collaborative systems and social media, the future of work, technology adoption, and the philosophy of technology.

Kai has extensive experience with industry-funded research and leads an Australian Research Council Linkage project initiative on the management of disruptive workplace technologies. He is the founder and leader of the Digital Futures Research Group (DFRG) and convener of DISRUPT.SYDNEY. Kai is frequently requested to comment, speak and consult on issues around digital disruption and the future of business. He has commented for the Australian Financial Review, The Age, The Australian, Canberra Times, and ABC programs including 7:30 and Future Tense on Radio National.

Kai co-hosts The Future, This Week, one of Australia’s leading podcasts on the future of business and technology; The Unlearn Project, the podcast about changing common sense; and is co-director of Sydney Executive Plus, the University of Sydney Business School’s new executive education initiative.
