Originally from Wuhan, China, Lydia moved to Beijing to study Portugese at Beijing Foreign Studies University. To fund her studies, she worked at Lai Pai vinyl store, where she realised her desire to work in music. Having joined Outdustry as an A&R in 2017, Lydia quickly rose through the ranks until being appointed as Head of A&R in 2022.
In 2020 she took a year away to study her masters at Berklee Valencia in Global Entertainment and Music Business.
Since returning to Beijing, she has worked on many major creative projects, including A&Ring multiple albums for local pop star Jike Junyi, multiple brand campaign songs for Sprite and several collab projects including for Romi (from The xx) and 4AD/Beggars. She is currently working with several technology companies to develop artist personas and music direction for virtual artists.
