Dr Marcus Carter is an Associate Professor in Digital Cultures at The University of Sydney, and currently holds an ARC Future Fellowship on the monetisation of children in the digital games industry. He is co-director of the Sydney Games and Play Lab and has published over 100 peer reviewed books, journal articles and conference papers on games, VR and human-computer interaction. He is a co-author of books including Death and Dying in Videogames, a study of the design and experience of death – both real and playful - in games; Treacherous Play, an MIT Press book on betrayal in games; and Fantasies of Virtual Reality, a forthcoming critical account of VR technology.
