About

Prof. Prue Vines in the co-director of the Private Law Research and Policy Group, and Director of First Year Studies in the Law School at UNSW Sydney. Her research interests are in torts and succession or inheritance. In torts she is interested in the attribution of responsibility in negligence and the use of apologies in civil liability; in succession she is interested in the impact of the common law on Aboriginal people. Prof. Vines teaches legal system, torts and succession at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

She was the Associate Dean (Education) in 2020, and Deputy Dean (Education) in 2021. Prof. Vines is the President of the Australian and New Zealand Legal History Society and sits on the Editorial Boards of the Torts Law Journal, Macquarie Law Journal, Indigenous Law Journal, and Law & History. In 2017, she was made a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Law in recognition of her exceptional distinction in the discipline of law.
