About

Professor Sarath Kodagoda is an award-winning and influential researcher in the field of robotics and mechatronics, whose passion for teaching has resulted in a number of significant education innovations. He was instrumental in the development of the mechatronics courses at UTS and received three teaching awards, including the prestigious UTS Medal for teaching & research integration. With over 20 years of experience in robotics, his broad aim has been to develop robotic solutions that support people to carry out dirty, dull and dangerous tasks safely and efficiently. He has published over 180 papers, including a paper in the prestigious Scientific Reports, Nature, attracted substantial grants, and won eight research awards, including prestigious international water awards. He is the Director of the Robotics institute at University of Technology Sydney (UTS), immediate past President of the Australian Robotics & Automation Association (ARAA), ambassador to the NSW Smart Sensing Network (NSSN), and Visiting Professor at Stanford University in the US. He is the founder of the iPipes lab, which hosts state of the art research and development in robotics for wastewater infrastructure and is a co-chair of both versions of the Robotics Road Map for Australia.
