About

Stuart Watt has been a journalist with more than 30 years. In 1997 he was part of the six-person team that launched the ABC’s first news website and he has been heavily involved in digital news ever since. He oversaw ABC News’s push into social media and third-party platforms, beginning in 2009 when the ABC become one of the first news organisations in the world to manually curate a presence on Twitter. More recently he has overseen the ABC’s continuous news services on TV and radio as well as digital, helping drive their transformation from linear broadcast to on-demand services. He also oversees BTN, the innovative news service for children and young people. Stuart has spent much of his career at the intersection of media, technology and strategy and is charting the way forward for ABC News as it continues its digital transformation. Away from work he is a keen trail ultramarathon runner and father to three grown-up children. He lives in Brisbane.
