Dr Taylor Szyszka is a postdoctoral researcher at The University of Sydney and the ARC Centre of Excellence in Synthetic Biology. Originally hailing from the USA, Taylor received her protein biochemistry PhD from The University of Sydney in 2019 and became enraptured by the world of synthetic biology, which is the focus of her postdoctoral research. In addition to her research pursuits, Taylor is a passionate science communicator with extensive experience discussing science in the public domain in print, radio, and on television. Taylor is a strong believer in making science accessible and has worked with numerous schools across NSW most notably as program coordinator for the STEAMPunk Girls educational program. She is also one of Science and Technology Australia’s Superstars of STEM for 2023 – 2024, an innovative program that will assist her in building her public profile as a woman in STEM.
