Troy Baker and Anjali Bhimani To Perform Live At The SXSW Sydney 2023 Games Festival

September 26, 2023

Today, we’re thrilled to bring legendary voice actors Troy Baker and Anjali Bhimani into the fold as part of the SXSW Sydney 2023 Games Festival, launching on Wednesday, October 18th.

It’s no secret that great voice acting is essential for character and game design. They bring much-needed texture and depth to a game’s characters and story, helping to make the player’s experience more believable. More immersive. If the game becomes a blockbuster, the voices and their behind-the-scenes owners are plucked from obscurity and can even become embedded in the very fabric of pop culture.

Troy Baker, best known for voicing Joel Miller (The Last of Us) and Anjali Bhimani for her roles as Symmetra (Overwatch) and Rampart (Apex Legends) are two such talents who have contributed to the success of those games. And their voices have since been thrust into the spotlight and the zeitgeist.

Baker has become one of the more prolific voice actors. With an impressive range he has taken on a wide variety of characters like The Joker (Arkham Knight) and Booker DeWitt (BioShock Infinite), as well as numerous roles for TV series, including Family Guy, Rick & Morty, American Dad!, and Love, Death & Robots.

Actress and musical performer Anjali Bhimini has built a career both on and off screen and has played Auntie Ruby (Ms. Marvel), Commander Natara (Starfield), Izel (Diablo IV) and starred in multiple Critical Role specials.

More recently, the two have been credited to the critically acclaimed Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical  — an interactive world where Greek Gods live in hiding in a roleplaying musical.

The SXSW Sydney Games Festival welcomes Baker and Bhimini for the opening party where they will bring the Stray Gods soundtrack to life, accompanied by Australian art pop sensation, Montaigne, who is also credited as a co-writer on the game’s soundtrack.

In addition to this once-in-a-lifetime show, NME essential emerging artist Sarah Wolfe will perform alongside composer Michael Allen, debuting a new song featuring music from League of Geeks’ Solium Infernum.
