September 18, 2023

We’ve got some MASSIVE news!

Billboard will be bringing the next evolution of THE STAGE to SXSW Sydney’s inaugural event. With an exclusive American Express pre-sale,  the legendary program is hitting our shores with a one-night-only concert by the sensational XG (Xtraordinary Girls) on Friday, October 20th.

“It’s an honour to work with our partners at SXSW Sydney to bring THE STAGE to a global audience,” explains Dana Droppo, Chief Brand Officer of Billboard. “We pride ourselves on providing unparalleled music experiences and with the help of American Express are thrilled to have XG headlining our first Australian show.”

For those who aren’t familiar the Japanese girl group, based in South Korea, consists of seven members: Jurin, Chisa, Hinata, Harvey, Juria, Maya and Cocona.

Exploding onto the scene in 2022, the group has been captivating listeners in each corner of the globe, with genre-defying hits such as ‘Shooting Star,’ ‘Left Right,’ ‘Mascara,’ and ‘Tippy Toes,’ completed with electrifying choreography.

“We aspire to become a group that can lead to positive change for many people around the world,” said Maya of XG. “We’re working hard to reach the highest place as singers, and we hope our fans, AlphaZ (XG’s official fandom), can also live their every day believing in themselves.”

You’ll be able to catch the international super-act at the Hordern Pavillion in Moore Park. For anyone wishing to secure your spot at THE STAGE presented by Billboard, a reserved number of tickets will be available exclusively for SXSW Sydney Platinum Badge holders, SXSW Sydney Music Badge holders and SXSW Sydney Music Wristband holders on a first come first serve basis. A code will be sent on the 10th of October to your registered email address — keep an eye out and don’t miss out. If you have any questions, please reach out to info@sxswsydney.com.

These levels of access are a great way to enjoy XG at the Hordern Pavillion (individual tickets starting from $150), the Someday Soon lineup (tickets starting from $93) plus hundreds of other performances throughout SXSW Sydney 2023 to choose from. That’s over 300 performances across 25 venues, over four days and nights – talk about bang for your buck.

Billboard’s legendary SXSW shows have long been a highlight in Austin,” says Colin Daniels, SXSW Sydney’s Managing Director. “We’re so excited to partner with them in our inaugural year to provide SXSW Sydney attendees and the public an exclusive performance from one of the buzziest pop artists in the world right now”
