[Monday, 24 June] Today, SXSW Sydney announces its latest round of global and local talent joining the music program at this year’s iteration in October. Artists announced so far hail from Australia, Colombia, India, Indonesia, Japan, New Zealand, Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan and the UK. 

  

Curated by the SXSW Sydney programming team Reg Harris and Ruby Miles from 1200+ submissions, highlights from this announcement include: the first Indonesian band to ever play Glastonbury, Voice of Baceprot; Tāmaki Makaurau all-stars Phoebe Rings; Taiwan-based experimental pop group I’mdifficult; indie darling of the Philippines Clara Benin; dynamic surf-rock band The Grogans, Obongjayar-cosigned East London rapper JESHI; NSW indie favourites, The Buoys; underground dance music hero, Mincy; Hatchie bandmate and cult shoegaze talent, RINSE; Central desert rockers and KISS tourmates, Mulga Bore Hard Rock; 16-year-old bedroom pop artist ixaras and four-piece Bangkok post-rock outfit Death of Heather.

These artists and many others join the likes of multi-hyphenate artist and Heartbreak High star Ayesha Madon, boundary-pushing triple j Unearthed High alumnus, Nick Ward; dreamy Colombian psych-rock trio, BALTHVS; 21-year-old Def-Jam signee, SAHXL; rising Marranunggu rapper brothers, J-MILLA & Yung Milla and evocative, genre-defying neo-classical instrumentalist, Joel Sunny. See these exciting up-and-coming artists take over iconic venues and music institutions on over 25 stages in Chippendale and surrounds during the week of 14-20 October.

In 2023, the Festival hosted Australian sets from burgeoning global superstars including Otoboke Beaver (JP), redveil (USA), Isyana Sarasvati (IDN), FCUKERS (USA), Connie Constance (UK) and Flyana Boss (USA), and 300 performances from rising local acts including Miss Kaninna, Dust, FRIDAY*, Inkabee, Radio Free Alice, Molly Payton and many more. 

In just one year, SXSW Sydney has established itself as the essential event to do business with the creative industries in the APAC region. In addition to showcases, the week-long event brings a wave of creativity and entertainment to the Harbour City, celebrating the convergence of tech, innovation, music, games and screen, providing vital networking and development opportunities. All music industry badge holders get primary access to music-focused conference programming with emphasis on music & tech and music careers, music mentor sessions & workshops, keynotes and featured speakers, music festival showcases, parties and meetups, as well as secondary access to all other screen, gaming and tech & innovation conference sessions.
