At SXSW Sydney, we strive to create an inclusive and accessible environment for all participants, regardless of age or ability.

At SXSW Sydney, we strive to create an inclusive and accessible environment for all participants, regardless of age or ability. We recognise the importance of accessibility and are making every effort to accommodate where possible, that all attendees and talent have equal access to the event and can fully participate in the experience. 


Below is a list of the accessibility options available across SXSW Sydney this year: 


Badge holders who carry a Companion card are eligible for 1 x complimentary Companion badge to mirror the original badge the companion card holder has purchased or is purchasing.

Accessibility Liaison  

SXSW Sydney are working closely with Get Skilled Access to provide guidance in making our event as accessible as possible. Get Skilled Access will be providing an accessibility liaison to work across the event and ensure all information desks are equipped with the right information to help anyone who is in need of assistance.

Designated Accessible Seating  

There will be designated accessible seating for sessions and film screenings. All designated SXSW accessible seating is based on capacity and provided on a first come, first served basis. 


AUSLAN Interpreters and Closed Captions 

SXSW Sydney will indicate all accessibility information available for every session to allow you to plan your attendance in advance.  

Closed captioning will be available in all Keynotes, featured speaker rooms and selected film screenings and gaming events. 

Closer to the event the app schedule will indicate which events AUSLAN interpreters, closed captioning, and audio descriptions will be available in. 


Sensory Rooms 

To create a calm and soothing space for those individuals who may become overwhelmed or overstimulated in a festival environment, sensory rooms will be available within the SXSW precinct. Sensory rooms are located at: 

The ICC Exhibition Centre– Level 5, Room E3.10

Available: Monday 16th to Saturday 21st October from 10am to 5pm

Mercure Sydney – Level 2, Martin Place Room

Available: Wednesday 18th to Sunday 22nd October from 9am to 9pm




Accessible Transportation 

SXSW Sydney takes place over a large walkable footprint of Central Sydney.  

For those who do not wish to walk, SXSW will be providing free inclusive shuttle buses that are scheduled to pick up roughly every 30 mins.  


Accessible Parking 

Parking will be very limited around the precinct, if you have a disabled car hang tag you can park in designated disabled parking spots or pay in private parking stations for a fee.
