How To Get Your SXSW Sydney Badge, Wristband And Expo Pass

October 5, 2023

So, you’re nearly ready for SXSW Sydney. Leave booked? Check. Outfits? Check. Event badge, wristband or expo pass? Ah, not quite there yet… But that’s OK!

To access the world of SXSW Sydney, a simple digital ticket won’t be accepted at any of the ticketed events (Tumbalong Park attendees need not apply, just rock up). In order to access and enter events, you’ll need to collect your physical badge, wristband or expo pass ahead of time – this will help things run a little smoother.

OK… so what do you need to do? We’re glad you asked, because we’ve actually written it below for your reading pleasure. Crazy coincidence, right?

When you’re heading to pick up your accreditation, make sure you have two things with you: the digital ticket you’re redeeming and a form of photo ID to prove that it’s you. This can take the form of:

  • Driver or rider licence or permit issued by an Australian State or Territory, or any foreign country
  • NSW Digital Driver Licence
  • Passport
  • NSW photo card
  • Proof of age card issued by a public authority of the Commonwealth, or of another State/Territory for the purpose of attesting to a person’s identity and age
  • Keypass (over-18) identity card issued by Australia Post

Badge Collection

To pick up your physical badges, head to Sydney’s International Convention Centre (ICC) in Darling Harbour, next to Tumbalong Park. Once you’re there, go to the Parkside Ballroom on level 2 and speak to our friendly staff to get your badge.

The site will be open from 9AM to 9PM from the 15th of October, 8AM to 9PM from the 16th of October,  9AM to 9PM from the 17th of October until the 20th of October and from the 21st October from 9AM to 1PM.

Wristband Collection

To pick up your wristbands on the other hand, make your way to either the ICC’s Parkside Ballroom, as above, or to the Info & Wristband Collection Stand at the Central Park Mall in Chippendale, opposite the University of Technology, Sydney.

The Central Park site will be open from  9AM – 10PM on the 16th of October, or 10AM-10PM between the 17th and 20th of October. If you’re heading to the ICC, the times will mirror that of the badge collection site.

Expo Pass Collection

To pick up your physical expo pass, head to Expo Halls 5 & 6 at Sydney’s International Convention Centre (ICC) in Darling Harbour, next to Tumbalong Park.

The site will be open from 10AM to 9PM from the 18th of October until the 20th of October, and from 10AM to 4PM on the 21st of October.

Purchased a badge on behalf of someone else?

In order to facilitate a badge transfer from one name to another in which you will not be there for you will need to supply in writing your authorisation of this with info@sxswsydney.com in the Cc: and the person you are transferring to in the To:

Please also supply this person with the original transaction confirmation.

They will need to go to Parkside Ballroom 2 @ the ICC to complete this. Upon being met by our customer service team they will need to show their valid ID, the authorisation email and the original transaction.

Purchased a wristband on behalf of someone else?

You are able to collect multiple wristbands as long as they were purchased under your name.
