Announcing our 2024 Tumbalong Park schedule!

Over 7 days and nights, Tumbalong Park in the heart of Sydney will be transformed into a hub of creativity as it plays host to world-class activations from leading brands, as well as inspiring talks, tech demos, live music, meet & greets, esports competitions, and more.

Monday

Lunchtime

Enjoy live music from a SXSW Sydney showcasing artist (to be revealed!) on your lunch break. 

Afternoon

Opening Ceremony hosted by Fenella Kernebone. We invite everyone to come together for our Welcome to Country and to enjoy a live audio/visual experimental arrangement by Source Decay, led by Travis De Vries. This immersive performance blends the profound depth of field recordings with the innovative textures of synths, percussion, vocals and live guitar. Working with Tristan Field, a respected local First Nations artist and composer, this piece honours and invokes the essence of country through a rich tapestry of sound and visual artistry. Experience the synergistic elements of creative fusion in this live collaboration, as Source Decay and Tristan Field come together to create a sonic journey that reveres the land and celebrates its stories. 

Evening

SXSW Sydney Screen Festival, presented by IHG Hotels & Resorts, Opening Party. After the opening Headline film Y2K screens, head down to Tumbalong Park to keep the party going with DJ sets from Nina Las Vegas and more.

Tuesday

Lunchtime

Groove with DJ Kleveone and play along in a giant drumming circle with Soul Drummer.

Afternoon

Enjoy performances from showcasing artists REI (NZ) and Mulga Bore (AUS).

Evening

You won’t want to miss Bush Shorts. A diverse collection of films that challenge, inspire, and resonate, Bush Shorts celebrates the rich tapestry of stories from emerging First Nations and Indigenous filmmakers across Australia. Curated by the esteemed Winda Film Festival, this year's selection promises an evocative exploration of identity and connection to country. Favourite this session

Wednesday

Morning

A signature F45 Training session that brings the energy and teamwork of functional fitness to the forefront (10:00am).

Lunchtime

Break it down with Beat Breakdown – a showcase of breakdancing! Featuring DJ’s dance battles and more.

Afternoon

Music meets Tech on the Tumbalong Park Main Stage where Ben Gillies (Musician, Songwriter and Silverchair Co-founder) will unite with Johannes Saam (Futurist) and Tushar Apte (Producer and Songwriter) for a live demonstration session and performance.

Evening

HIGHLIGHT | Music fans won’t want to miss acclaimed UK singer and rapper ENNY and South African star Moonchild Sanelly performing live on the Tumbalong Park Main Stage on Wednesday night from 6:00pm, in celebration of ibis’ 50th anniversary. Head to the ALL.com Lobby Lounge prior for happy hour from 4:30pm–5:30pm. 

Thursday

Lunchtime

Get down for the SXSW Sydney Tech & Innovation showcase from 12:00pm! Featuring the latest innovative creations from tertiary institutions, colleges and academies. Think Rockets, Robots, Motorsports, Music, Design and everything in-between. 

Afternoon

Join visiting PMUC Thailand as they showcase the amazing art of Muay Thai!   

Evening

Screen curated: Playlist: A Music Video Showcase – witness a compilation of ground breaking and cutting-edge video clips from Australia's top creators. Followed by some special guests to be revealed. 

Friday

Lunchtime

Get ready for some boot scootin’ with line dancing band Swamp Dawkins!  

Afternoon

Be sure to get down for Queer Creative Happy Hour with performances from The Buoys and a very special guest.

Evening

Celebrating APAC live music with our SXSW Sydney Pan-Asian Music Festival! Featuring a roster of some of our most exciting showcasing artists:

Saturday

Be sure to get down for the ACER National High School Gaming Competition – live streamed and full of action.  The inaugural Acer Predator League Academy, backed by Intel and Livewire, is a high school tournament ft. Fortnite taking place from April - October. The very first Championship event will be held at SXSW Sydney 2024, with the winners crowned by icons Lachlan and Loserfruit!

ZERO Motorcycles will be stepping out from the Tech & Innovation Expo and on to the Main Stage to show their latest concept electric high performance Motor Bike of which there is only one in the world!   

Afternoon

Damon Gameau (That Sugar Film, 2040) Brings his Future Council to the Main Stage to discuss the film and have a live Q&A. ahead of the film being screened on Sunday at The Ritz. | Favourite this session

HIGHLIGHT | The Kid LAROI, triple j Unearthed and Blak Out present Blak Future: a showcase of four up-and-coming indigenous artists, live on the Tumbalong Park Main Stage at 3:30pm. This follows The Kid LAROI’s highly anticipated keynote happening at ICC at 2:00pm. | Favourite this session

Evening

Do your Saturday night right and get ready for all things surf and salt, with a screening of the 1966 cult classic film Endless Summer –  rejuvenated and digitally remastered, presented by Papa Salt. Followed by live music from SXSW Sydney Music Festival Acts Balthvs & Touch Sensitive. | Favourite this session

Sunday 

SXSW Sydney’s Tumbalong Park programming culminates in “+91 Calling!”, a single-day showcase festival of Indian creative culture that will bring the energy to the Main Stage on Sunday 20 October. Featuring six acts from India and the Indian diaspora—one of the most exciting entertainment influences of the moment—with genres spanning hip-hop, pop, r&b, club and indie.
